Verizon Communications has announced the launch of 55 new channels to its FiOS TV lineup to the subscribers in the the Hampton Roads area. The new channels added also includes 53 high-definition channels and the subscribers have more than 100 HD channels, 800 HD choices available and 700 high-definition video on Demand titles offered every month.
Verizon claims that it offers more HD channels than Cox Communications and will continue to expand its HD offering. Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Portsmouth, Poquoson and Virginia Beach in Hampton Roads are the areas where Verizon’s FiOS TV service is available at present and will expand its area of coverage very shortly.

New Subscribers who sign-up FiOS TV by December 31 will be offered with free access of entertainment packages like Cinemax, HBO and FiOS TV’s Movie Package, which includes Showtime, Starz, The Movie Channel, Encore, Sundance Channel and IFC for three months and the package include 40 HD premium channels as well as more than 9,000 free VOD titles per month.
Mary Ellen Payne, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Verizon’s Potomac region said “FiOS TV is the only service to consider if you want the ultimate HD experience, with our increased number of HD channels, along with HD video-on-demand programming, we’re blowing cable away.
