DirecTV Launches Local HD Programming in the Norfolk/Newport News, Virginia

DirecTV has announced on Wed. Oct 1, the launch of local high-definition programming to its subscribers in the Norfolk-Newport News, Virginia area. Now DirecTV customers must have H20 or H21 HD receiver or an HR20 or HR21 DIRECTV Plus HD DVR and a Ka/Ku band dish to receive following local HD broadcast:
WVEC/ABC
WTKR
/CBS
WVBT
/FOX and
WAVY
/NBC
With the launch of local HD in Norfolk-Newport News, DirecTV offers local HD in almost 98 cities, which represents about 83 percent of U.S. TV households. DirecTV also announced that they will deliver local HD channels in more than 121 cities to represent approximately 88 percent of U.S. TV households.
