DirecTV Launches Local HD Programming in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

After the successful launch of the satellite DIRECTV 11, DirecTV started its new local high-definition programming in various markets. Now its time for customers in the Baton Rouge, La area to receive local HD programming. Following are the local HD networks launched on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008. in Baton Rouge area:

WBRZ/ABC
WAFB/CBS
WGMB/FOX and
WVLA/NBC

DirecTV now delivers high-definition broadcast in 85 cities, which represents nearly 79 percent of U.S. TV households.

After the launch of local HD broadcast in Baton Rouge, DirecTV also plans to launch 36 more HD local channel markets by the end of 2008. DirecTV, also the leader in providing national high-definition programming with 130 HD channels and with its local HD launches DirecTV will provide local HD broadcast channels in 121 cities, representing more than 88 percent of U.S. TV households.

Who cares about DirecTV in Baton Rouge? Nobody there has power to watch TV after the hurricane.
