DirecTV and TV Networks Gearing up To Provide Informations about Hurricane Gustav

MSNBC, CNN and Fox News Channel have diverted their focus from opening night of the Republican National Convention to Hurricane Gustav hitting the Gulf Coast. All these networks cameras and correspondents are on the ground in the region and in New Orleans. The weather Channel has main focus and is entirely covering the Hurricane Gustav. Meanwhile, DirecTV has launched a dedicated 24/7 Emergency Information Network for Gulf Coast residents who may be affected by Hurricane Gustav. This will be the same like one launched during Hurricane Katrina and will provide following informations:

Maps, provided by the Weather Channel, that track the storm and are periodically updated as it changes path
Evacuation Routes, pick up points and tips on what evacuees should take with them
Ride Information that includes RTA bus and train information and phone numbers to call to arrange a ride
Relief agency Information for those who want to help including phone numbers and Web addresses for the Red Cross, FEMA, Salvation Army and Feed the children
Shelter openings will be provided throughout the Gulf Coast region
Special needs shelter locations and phone numbers
Transportation infrastructure, including road closures throughout the Gulf Coast Region
