Comcast Launches 100 Mbps High-Speed Internet Service in The Twin Cities

by admin on September 9, 2009

Comcast has announced the launch of 100 Mbps high-speed Internet service to businesses in the Twin Cities region on Sept. 8. Comcast claims that it offers the fastest broadband services available to business customers.

Comcast deploys DOCSIS 3.0 technology to deliver high-speed Internet service across fiber-optic networks to offer up to 100 Megabits per second (Mbps) downloads and up to 15 Mbps uploads. With download speeds of up to 100 Mbps, customers will be able to operate their businesses more efficiently and productively than ever. For example, downloading a large 2 GB file can be completed in about 2 ½ minutes. To download the same sized file on a typical business class 1.5 Mbps T1 line would take more than 3 hours.

Bill Stemper, President of Comcast Business Services said, “Internet speeds this fast are a game changer for businesses. When Comcast doubled its Internet speeds last year, business customers immediately took advantage of that wideband pipe to connect regional offices, support remote employees, and perform large file transfers,” Stemper added. “100 Mbps service is ideal for data-intensive businesses that need this kind of speed and want an alternative to slower, more expensive T1 lines.”

Bill Wright, Vice President, Comcast Twin Cities Region said, “We’re thrilled to be the first market to offer a 100 Mbps service to our business customers in Minnesota. This offering reaffirms our commitment to be the speed leader in the Twin Cities and Minnesota and to help businesses succeed with tools that can have a real impact on their bottom lines.”
