Time Warner Cable has announced that it will bring 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games from February 12 to 28, 2010. Time Warner launched 2010 Olympic Showcase channel beginning February 1, 2010 to offer On Demand programming and split screen.

Time Warner Cable’s 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games on popular channels includes:

• NBC
• USA Network
• MSNBC
• CNBC and
• Universal HD

Time Warner Cable’s Olympic Showcase channel will deliver photo gallery, TV schedule, medal count, athlete biographies, latest Olympic news and venue descriptions On Demand.

Nate Smith of Time Warner Cable said, “The Olympics are a unique television event that has wide appeal to our subscribers. The 2010 Olympic Showcase channel will provide a veritable buffet feast for Olympic fans, allowing our digital customers the opportunity to pick and choose which events to watch and when, thanks to our advance digital technology.”

Time Warner Cable has announced that it will launch ‘The Green Channel,’ on Friday, October 23 on digital channel 332. The Green Channel will be available to subscribers in Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai and the Big Island.

The Green Channel will provide programming that will be developed and introduced incrementally in partnership with businesses, organizations and individuals.

The City & County of Honolulu’s Department of Environmental Services will provide the pioneer programming with its “Opalavision,” which will feature entertaining and educational three-minute episodes dedicated to recycling. Hosted by young, local actors, each episode will inspire action and show how waste is reutilized to achieve the maximum benefit to Hawaii’s economy and environment.

Nate Smith, Oceanic Time Warner Cable President, said: “The purpose of the Green Channel is to inform, engage and inspire businesses and individuals to contribute toward creating a more sustainable environment. Outdoor Channel Holdings has entered an agreement with Time Warner Cable to launch Outdoor Channel in high-definition. This is the first time that Time Warner Cable launches fishing, hunting and adventure programming, Outdoor Channel HD to its high-definition subscribers in the New York City, Mount Vernon, and New Jersey.

Outdoor Channel and Time Warner have already renewed affiliation agreement across more than 150 markets in March to maintain and distribute Outdoor Channel network’s standard definition, high-definition and video-on-demand programming and this latest deal to launch the channel in HD in the New York City, Mount Vernon, and New Jersey adds to this.

Tom Hornish, COO for Outdoor Channel, said “This agreement further solidifies Outdoor Channel’s category leadership. We continue to make strategic investments in quality programming that we are delivering to a growing base of loyal viewers who demand the visual clarity of the great outdoors in HD. Outdoor Channel is currently the only full-time outdoor network with a robust HD offering, and this launch in the number 1 media market is evidence that our investment is paying off.”

Time Warner Cable has dropped WBTW The local CBS affiliate from its programming lineup in Surfside Beach and Georgetown County. Time Warner has already dropped NBC affiliate from its lineup in May. The cable operator has stated that the channel was withdrawn to replace with HD channels and to avoid duplicate channels. Time Warner will also to drop WBTW from its lineup in Brunswick County, N.C. in September.

“We believe we complied with the law, but we just learned about this complaint and we’ll need to look into the matter further before providing additional comments” said Melissa Buscher, Time Warner’s director of media relations for the Carolinas’ region in a statement.

Michael Caplan, vice president and general manager of WBTW said, “Time Warner didn’t follow FCC regulations because it didn’t provide proper notice of the change to customers and still hasn’t served notice to Media General itself.”

Time Warner Cable has launched two new high-definition channels to its subscribers in Hawaii. The cable operator has added FSN Prime Ticket HD on channel 1228 and MavTV HD on channel 1603. Subscribers need to have a high-definition television and a HD box to receive these new HD channels.

These new HD channels are launched as a part of the HD expansion planned and will end up the year with 75 HD channels in Hawaii. Time Warner has added FSN Prime Ticket HD in its Standard TV Service line-up and MavTV HD added at no extra charge in the HD Entertainment Pack. The company is now offering 53 HD channels and will launch more than 20 HD channels before the year end.

MavTV HD – is focused towards men in the 18-54 age group. MavTV features original programming that appeals to men, such as sports, comedies, gadgets, gaming, and women.

Smithsonian HD – A joint venture television network between Showtime Networks and the Smithsonian Institution and delivers content that is inspired by the Smithsonian Institution’s museums, research facilities and magazines – and features original non-fiction programming that covers a wide range of historical, scientific and cultural subjects.
