Little City Foundation will host 47th Annual Little City Invitational Golf Tournament on Monday, Aug. 16, at Twin Orchard Country Club in Long Grove.

This year’s tournament also will signify the final major event celebrating Little City’s 50th Anniversary year, which began on Oct. 1, 2009, and ends Sept. 30.

Little City will present Larmon with its prestigious Morrie Kellman Humanitarian Award, named after the founder of the Little City tournament. The Little City Invitational is one of the oldest, ongoing golf tournaments in the country hosted by a nonprofit, which has advocated and raised funds for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities for more than half a century.

No stranger to Little City, Larmon has played in several Little City Invitational tournaments in the past to support the organization. In fact, his foursome won the event last year. He is also very active in community service, both in the Chicago and St. Louis areas, including serving on the national board of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

“Pat is a perfect selection for our Morrie Kellman Humanitarian Award, which emphasizes compassion, dedication and support for people with disabilities,” said Ed Hockfield, one of the co-chairs for this year’s event. “We are very pleased to have him as our honoree this year.”

“Little City Foundation is a wonderful organization that provides hope and dignity to people with disabilities, and I am always willing to help them whenever I can,” Larmon said. “To receive an honor of this caliber is very humbling, and I look forward to taking part in this year’s tournament.”

Spoelstra on finding players to fill out the Heat’s roster:
“Chemistry is going to play a big part of what we’re trying to do and we’ve got to find players that want to be part of our culture. Not every player fits our culture. Obviously, there are exciting things going on and I think we’ll have plenty of opportunities to find players to fill out the roster. We’ll start with Summer League right here but even some veterans will be willing to sacrifice like the three guys (Chris Bosh, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade) did to be part of something big.”

Spoelstra on the type of players the Heat are looking for:
“In general the type of culture players that we are looking for are defensive-minded, energy, high motor-type. We need a little more depth at the point guard position and probably up front. But we like shot-blockers and I like active guys back there who can erase some mistakes at the rim and can create a lot of opportunities with offensive rebounds. But just with a high motor and activity.”

CBSSports.com today announced that Canadian professional basketball player Stephen John Nash will travel to 2010 World Cup to file a series of video segments and reports.

CBSSports.com has entered an agreement with Nash’s video production company, Meathawk, to give fans around the globe a unique
perspective on the world’s largest sporting event.

Nash, who was born in South Africa to British parents but grew up in Canada will post a series of eight videos to CBSSports.com and the CBSSports.com page on youtube.com and also upload daily photos, iPhone vignettes, and status updates on CBSSports.com’s social media platforms while interacting with fans about his travels and Cup experiences.

NFL Network and NFL Films have been awarded four 2009 Sports Emmy Awards. NFL Films has received three Emmy Awards to bring its total to 100 Emmy Awards.

NFL Films critically acclaimed Hard Knocks series broadcast on HBO won its 100th Emmy Award. Hard Knocks series won its first Emmy in the Outstanding Edited Sports Series – Anthology category.

ESPN Regional Television has announced the venue of the fourth annual 76 Classic in 2010. The Anaheim Convention Center near Disneyland will host the 76 Classic field which will feature eight schools, including 2009 NCAA Tournament participants California State University, Northridge and Oklahoma State and 2009 NIT Champion Penn State.

The 76 Classic event in 2010 will feature four games every day through Nov. 25, 26 and 28 and every team will compete in one game per day, advancing through a bracket-tournament format. The two teams that remain undefeated throughout will face off in a championship match Sunday, Nov. 28.

Clint Overby, senior director of events, ESPN Regional Television, said “Once again, an outstanding field will represent conferences from around the country for the 76 Classic. The 76 Classic showcases quality competition while it also provides an outstanding off-court experience for the student-athletes, coaches and staffs. Fans will have an opportunity to spend the weekend watching college basketball and enjoying all that Anaheim and Southern California have to offer.”

Fox Soccer Channel has announced the live coverage schedule of UEFA Champions League Group Stage coverage Matchday 4. Fox Soccer Channel will present a 30-minute UEFA Champions League Pre-game at 2 p.m. ET live on Tuesday, Nov. 3 and also available on FSN.

Fox Soccer Channel will present the second Group D match-up in a two-week span between Atlético Madrid and Chelsea at 2:45 p.m. ET.
