Cablevision has announced the launch of FOX Business Network on channel 106 to its subscribers in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Cablevision’s launch of the channel was possible due to the carriage agreement signed between the operator and FOX Business Network.

FOX Business Network will expand its presence on Cablevision in New York City metro area, throughout Long Island as well as Westchester, Fairfield and Bergen Counties.

Tim Carry, the network’s senior vice president of affiliate relations, said “We’re pleased to welcome Cablevision as our newest FOX Business affiliate and look forward to providing the essential and up-to-the-minute breaking business news to the greater New York area.”

John Trierweiler, Cablevision’s senior vice president, product management, said in a statement, “We are pleased to make FOX Business Network available to our iO TV digital cable customers in both standard definition and HD.”

Cablevision has launched ‘iO Search’ a new search interactive TV application to its customers ate no additional charge. This new application helps subscribers to search for programming, both on linear TV channels and VOD.

Cablevision’s iO Search allows customers to use a virtual keypad to enter in search terms and find programming based on a show’s title, genre, performers, network or other attributes. Cablevision claims that the service is fast, and says that results are displayed beginning with the first character entered, and then refined as the customer inputs
additional information.

Gary Schanman, Cablevision’s SVP of video product management, said, “This is a significant free enhancement to our digital cable service that we believe will be enormously popular with our customers, especially in today’s environment, with hundreds of channels and thousands of VOD titles available at all times. We want to improve the television viewing
experience by helping our customers navigate through the enormous amount of choice and diversity of programming they enjoy today, and iO Search is a powerful tool that will make it easier for our customers to find what they’re looking for and discover new content in the process.”

Cablevision Systems Corporation has announced the launch of Bollywood Hits On Demand on its international subscription video on demand. Cablevision’s new Bollywood Hits On Demand will attract Indian nationals settled New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and parts of Pennsylvania. This On Demand service is available on Channel 241 and serves Indian Films and music videos.

Cablevision’s Bollywood Hits On Demand will deliver more than 25 movies from Bollywood and 50 music videos every month. The cable operator has more than 2.8 million iO TV customers and more than 90 percent of Cablevision’s cable customers are iO TV digital cable customers.

Verizon has announced on Monday, July 28 that thay are offering 100 High-Definition channels in the New York area. These new HD channels offered are to existing FiOS TV markets in the New York metropolitan area, including parts of Long Island, the suburbs just north of the city, and northern New Jersey. Verizon said in a press release on Monday, July 28 that the service will offer 100 HD channels, giving customers more HD than Time Warner Cable or Cablevision.

Cablevision has announced added 15 new high-definition channels to its iO TV HD line-up starting from Monday, July 28. Cablevision’s new addition of 15 new high-definition channels will be completed on August 1, 2008. Cablevision now offers 60 high-definition channels for its iO TV subscribers for no extra programming fees or equipment. The Cable operator uses fiber optic network and advanced technology to deliver HD programming has announced that the high-definition expansion will continue and to ultimately deliver all of the channels it carries in HD.
